Our annual fish fry is coming up on the evening of Saturday, August 12 at the OSYC. This is the best old fashioned fish fry on the Gulf Coast. Real fresh, local, fish. Mostly speckled trout (none of that import stuff) with “fixin’s” and lots of home made desserts for only $10 a plate. Bring your friends and do not miss this one!
We will need lots of volunteers, fillet donations and desserts. Watch for more details to follow.
Our July meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11 (one week later than usual due to the July 4th holiday) at the OSYC at 6pm. Fishing friend and ESFF founding member, Captain Tim Diehl will come by to talk with us about the outstanding fly fishing for Tarpon that he has had this Spring in the Florida Keys. We will also be discussing HOSSFLYs continued affiliation with the FFI and upcoming events including our August Fish Fry. See you there!
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 6 at the OSYC around 6pm depending on pre-meeting activities. We will have a presentation from Brian Little at Sabine Skiffs, who will be bringing a boat for us to look at. Other topics should include the pending Dauphin Island trip on 6/10, a “boom or bust” Tarpon trip report from one member’s late May trip, plus other pending Spring outings. As always, watch for more details in your club emails and we hope to see you there!

Our annual Dauphin Island get together is coming up on “Alabama Free Fishing Day,” Saturday, June 10. This is great, accessible wade fishing on miles of beach with no Alabama license required on that day. Last year we had a number of specks and pompano caught very early in the morning. This year, a few of us will be fishing the lights and full moon the night beforehand and our regular plan has been to have folks get together for “luncheon and lyin'” after fishing together on Saturday morning. We already have a good group committed so please come and join us! RSVP only if you will be attending to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can update you on further plans and keep an eye out for you. See you there!
Our April meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4 at 6:30pm at the OSYC. We should have reports from our club trip out to one of our favorite Chandeleur locations and other fishing trips as well. Watch your email for further details and updates. See you there!
(update) – Our annual banquet, auction and raffle is held each January instead of a meeting. We always have a fabulous meal and silent auction of loads of great fly fishing gear, guided trips, art, artisanal gifts and a raffle for the TFO rod of your choice! All members are please requested to donate something for the auction as this is our only major fund raiser for the year with proceeds going to local conservation efforts. Come have a great time, help us do some good, and stay tuned for an update here and via email.
Your club email details for the banquet/auction are copied below…
Dear Hossfly Friends:
Thanks to Gus Pialet, Hossfly has reserved Broome’s Grocery on Government Street for Saturday, January 21 for our annual Banquet and Silent Auction. The party will start at 6:00 p.m. The cost is $35 per person ($70 per couple).
Gus has selected a great menu:
Two Appetizers: Hot Crab Dip & Cheese Tray
Two Entrees: Prime Rib & Chicken, with a potato, vegetable, salad, rolls & dessert.
It will be BYOB (bring your own wine or liquor) except for beer which will have to be purchased from Broome’s. They have a generous selection of beers.
In order to order the correct number of meals we will need to have a count before January 15th.
Please send your checks for the banquet to:
2519 Brighton Circle
Biloxi, MS 39531
Also, as most of you know, every year we include a silent auction in our January banquet festivities. The monies raised over the last few years have been sent to GCRL to further fisheries research and marine education. If you have an item that you would like to donate, please send an e-mail to me (Pat Sharpe) describing the item and the value. The email is email@example.com.
As an additional reminder, annual dues are due in January. Please include your $15 (single or family) in dues in your check for the banquet.
Thank you all so much for being members this year. I wish you and those you care for the merriest of Christmases!
Be safe, Pat

Hossfly has been contacted about participating in the 2017 Biloxi Boat Show Feb 10-12. We have a time slot for Sunday at 2:00 pm. Anita and Mike did this last year and talked about How to Start Your Saltwater Fly Fishing Journey – which was very well received.
We are looking for volunteers to help and will be discussing this during the meeting.
Additional Reminder – Annual dues are due. Please bring your $15 to the meeting if you haven’t already paid. If you are unable to make the meeting please send your check to:
2519 Brighton Circle

Thank you all for your continued support and participation in Hossfly this year. Hope to see you this Tuesday, Colleen.

We will need lots of help… watch your club emails for further details.
